Many wonderful programs already exist that allow women to use their talents to help others. Upon researching mother/daughter opportunites in our area... we came up short and created chicktime in order to volunteer together doing what we love to do. Many women need their free time to bond with their own children, expecially daughters. Chicktime is an answer to that need. The format makes it easy and fun to set up new volunteer programs where they do not yet exist.
Who: A chicktime group consists of...12 chicks, one for each month! Mother/daughter teams highly encouraged and count as one member. Additional guest volunteers are fabulous!
Why: Use our God given gifts to encourage the next generation to make this world a better place. If we ‘model’ our gift giving the young women we are helping, and our daughters, hopefully they will grow up seeing and feeling the value and will be encouraged to identify their gifts and use them to help others.
How: Each chick identifies her gift… something she loves to do… her vocation, her hobby, or just something she would like to develop about herself. Yes, you have one. Then develop a way to teach that skill or passion to the other chicks and the girls your group is serving in order to encourage all of us to further develop our gifts and use them to help others.
Where: Find an organization close to your home that cares for abandoned or abused girls and find out if they are open to hosting a chicktime group.

When: One day each month. The New Life chicktime group meets the second Saturday each month from 8:30-12:00.
The girls chicktime serves: Chicktime New Life: New Life Children's Treatment Center- Each of the 60 resident girls of New Life function within sub communities of ‘cottages’. There are three cottages, each cottage houses 20 girls. All girls are recovering from some form of abuse.
The Format: Changes depending on the number of girls you are serving. For sample purpose, this is how the New Life chicktime program works. It is preferred that we tailor our programs to last 50 minuets each with each ‘cottage’ of 20 girls rotating through the sessions for a total of 3 sessions. For planning purposes, each small group would include for 18-24 (including the other chicks… we get to play too!) In the ideal situation, there are 3 program stations the girls rotate through so that all girls are engaged from 9:00am-12:00pm. The Chick Leader of the month will design and lead one of the three programs. Two other volunteer chicks are needed to design and lead the other two program stations if possible. If this is not possible, then New Life staff will fill in with activities to keep the girls busy. This is why guest volunteers and alternates are so important.
The details:
*Establish the group of 12 chicks.
*Meet one time each month.
*Each chick leader commits to leading one month out of the year. She is responsible for developing her program, confirming the date with the volunteer coordinator of the charity they will serve and then with the other chicks. She is encouraged to use the calendar on this site to promote your events!!! She is responsible for all materials for her program. We suggest you create a seed fund from friends and family for your event if your ideas are grander than your budget. Most children's homes have materials available that are very powerful in telling the story. New Life is no exception. Go to www.newlifechildrenscenter.org and click on children of promise.
*If a chick can’t make it to all of the programs, that is okay, a commitment to your program day and 6 other programs out of the year would be a good place to start!
*Invite your friends to join you and find out what chicktime is all about. Once they see how easy it is to serve (and how fun) they may be encouraged to step out in faith and find a place to plug in... maybe they might even start a new chicktime group somewhere they have a heart to serve...
*Basically, your month is the only month you have to do any leg work, the other 11 months, you just show up and have fun!
